‘Tis the Season

Ready or not, the Holidays are upon us.  This holiday season, amid all the hustle and bustle, we hope you have a little extra time to spend with your loved ones. I don't know about your families, but with mine the more structured activities we have outside the house, the better. Which is why I'm proposing we all get out there and take advantage of some of the wonderful things San Diego has to offer this time of year.  (Warning, this post includes a shameless plug for our little museum.)

The first weekend of December, Bank of America hosts its "Museum on Us" promotion.  On Saturday, December 1 and Sunday, December 2, Bank of America will cover each cardholder's general admission to The Museum of Photographic Arts and The San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park and the Birch Aquarium at Scripps in La Jolla. Jellyfish tank, here we come!

Busy the first weekend in December?  Never fear, Balboa Park December Nights is here! On Friday, December 7 and Saturday, December 8 you can visit participating museums throughout Balboa Park FREE of CHARGE from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. If you needed another excuse to check out Behold, America! a collaboration between Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the San Diego Museum of Art, and the Timken Museum of Art, now you can go for free!

And (I warned you), we hope you will visit the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum.  SDCHM is a GREAT place to spend a couple hours with or without your family.  We are a small museum, which allows you to get up close and personal with our collection.  All of the museum staff members moonlight as docents and history buffs.  We love it when guests ask us questions and we encourage you to ask with abandon.  Plus, admission is just $2 for adults and FREE for kids under 12.  If you ask, we might just let your kids help feed the colorful koi in our Chuang Garden ... And our free "Detective Hunt" is the perfect thing to keep kids age 5 through 12 occupied while you explore.  Better yet, we promise you they will learn something.

So instead of watching the A Christmas Story Marathon again this year (and we know you're tempted), we encourage you to come visit us or another museum this holiday season. For a list of museums in our area, click here.  SDCHM will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. and on Sundays from noon until 4:00 p.m. every week, except Thanksgiving Day (November 22), Christmas Day (December 25), and New Year’s Day (January 1).

Happy Holidays!

From Your Favorite Chinese Historical Museum,
SDCHM

P.S. Use this coupon, to bring a friend to SDCHM for FREE this Saturday and Sunday, November 24 and 25. Just a little token of our gratitude.
