We’re Having a Party!

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 6, we will be hosting our 12th Annual Family Moon Festival.  As you may know, each year the Chinese celebrate the Moon or Mid-Autumn Festival on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month by savoring the full moon and the bounty of the harvest. Here at SDCHM, we will be celebrating the festival with some storytelling, mooncake-making, arts and crafts, a calligraphy demonstration, and even some mooncake tasting! Also, our younger visitors will help us retell the Chinese legends about the Jade Rabbit and the Fairy Princess living in the moon.

In order to get ready for the Moon Festival, we decided to spruce the place up a bit.  We made this festive bunting using old postcards, a whole punch, some scissors, and some leftover string.  As far as we’re concerned, we’re ready to party!

Do you have some environmentally-friendly decorations or party tips to share?  Post them on our Facebook page.  We love to hear from you!

See you Saturday!

Thank you to SDG&E for making this post possible.
